Call past just about any workshop and bludge some second hand 60ltr oil drums. Most places will give you half a dozen for a carton. Way easier if you have to cart bulk fuel out bush than 20 ltr jerries or a 44.

60ltr drums are easier out bush
Use a hand operated pump , battery fuel pump or jiggler siphon... they take a fair amount of abuse too.

I was considering this route, but I didn't think about the 60l drums which would work well. Anyway, I have enough cans now.
