Proper 120 AH (at 20 hr rate) deep cycle AGM battery
$189 plus $66 freight to Darwin = $255
Delivered to your door
If you go onto the link website and enter 0800 postcode for shipping cost, it quotes $66.22 freight.
They have higher capacity and longer warranty versions.
One of the main problems is trying to estimate what depth of discharge you've reached so check out this link which will work with ANY battery.

Yep. Motorguide.
I amended the post to show that higher capacity/warranty batteries are available and the power meter. First simple power meter that I've seen. It claims to read how many AH you use after you connect it up. Comes with fitted Anderson plug by the look of it.
I'm about to get one of them.
Aussie Batteries is on the Sunshine Coast. $32 freight for battery for me.

Looks like the power meter will work up to 60V so should be OK for 24V for 85/100 lb thrust jobs.
Even though it says 50 amp maximum, at 24 V you only use half the amps so it'll handle the current of 24V systems ok.

Those meters look good. I made up a similar one that I use to keep track with charging system solar panel that I use. Hard to get accurate a/h readings though as it won't always reset each time so end up with a large total which doesn't really give me much info. Volts and amps are spot on though which gives me most of the info I need. Might buy one of these meters to compare $44 is cheap. Cheers.

Yep. User has to ensure that meter is rest each time. Simply lift 1 leg off the battery I'd imagine.
Won't really need meters when the Nickel-Iron batteries which supposedly tolerate 80% discharge start getting cheaper.
Apart from building one like you did, its the first time I've seen a cheap one that measures the very thing that deep cycle battery makers say is so important.
I think they're on a winner here probably selling more meters than batteries.

I agree Grumpy. I got one as well.
I looked for batteries as well but couldn't find any.
That's a good site Theodosius.
