Million Dollar Fish

Post by bigwoody »

A barra lodge is advertising that they will be the first place to have Million Dollar Fish tagged some time in August.
Does this mean the organizers of this comp will be letting us know the locations of where the MDF Barra have been tagged.
Will all the Barra fishing lodges at the Tiwi islands and other places also have MDF Barra?

If haven't heard or seen the advertisement, but if they are putting tagged fish near one lodge they'll have to do them all, or it would be unfair.

If they do them all, it would be a great promo for NT lodges.

I think there will be far less of them in places like the harbour and bynoe etc. it's not designed for locals so the lodge areas make sense.

I suppose it makes sense having the tagged fish where locals don't go to fish.
Did any tourists catch a MDF Barra last year or was it all locals who got lucky.

A tourist got one in Daly River last year. The rest were caught by locals

There is 101 fish this year, so that is room for 30 lodges to get 1 each, and the rest stay the same.
The biggest fish tagged, should be the million dollar fish, no matter where it is caught.

Good idea to have some near the lodges-the whole point is to boost tourism at a slow time of year

Well if a casino is involved in anything like this, I will put a beer on the million dollar fish being in the most remote NT river that is in the game. It's about odds, they have already sold the details of everyone who has registered for the comp for 5 times the potential payout, so they win.

My bet is that the MDB is about 65 to 75cm and is in either the Roper or Limmen rivers. Those systems will be shut soon due to weather and very few fishos will be able to get to them before the end date of the comp. Casinos call it insurance on insurance.

What's negative about that Fagazi? Just my thoughts, and I am registered and going to have a crack at getting one of them. It's still a lottery though.
