It appears sacred sites are often also good fishing spots. For example, the map appears to show the large mud gutter on the flat about 50m to 100m north of Talc Head as a sacred site. Can't imagine what else that marker could be.

Also, people are supposed to stay 100m from the numerous sacred sites marked on the map. One Fella Creek, and some handy rockbars in Tapa Bay, are marked as sacred sites, yet my understanding is that there is still access for fishing. If there is any friction with the locals while fishing these spots it will be the visiting fisho who is on the losing side.

Aspects of this claim could get complicated down the track. Might be in a bit of a honeymoon period now.

Police won't wait off Plater Rock to bust anyone, but if there was boat rego in the NT it would be easy enough for people to take photos and report boats. This is something to keep in mind if you support introduction of NT boat rego, it will be a handy tool for busting skippers who make innocent mistakes.

That said, it is great that Indian Island is open for camping, and access to Bare Sandy continues.
