On this forum you can expect 45% to recommend the Yamaha, 45% to recommend the Suzuki and the remaining 10% to go the Mercury or Evinrude or Thomatsu and you probably can't go wrong with any of them.

In my opinion, a larger displacement is desirable. For a given rated horsepower the engine should not be woking as hard and it should inherently have more torque and should equate to better longevity. More torque will give you greater "power" throughout the rev range. The trade off is usually weight and increased fuel consumption.

The this vs that comes up a bit here. below are two links to similar conversations regarding displacement.

Up here, dealer support for the yammy and the suzzie are both great, the others good. In the end, it should probably come down to your personal allegiance and the best deal.

I know i'll get slammed as there are many ETEC bashers here.

But over the years i have had a few ETEC'S and love them........................

The only down side is your trapped with one dealer here.

I would buy another one though if up grading again.

Cheers
