I finally got to go fishing

Post by Lats »

A couple of days ago I took off at 3pm for an overnight goldie trip. Hoping that the wind was going to drop off during the night as per the previous few nights. A bit of a gamble because during the day has seen up to 20kts and the distance I was expecting to travel from Darwin.

Anyway, the trip out was ok. Rough in the harbour but as time went on I was able to power up gradually and stay on the plane. And the wind did drop off during the night for perfect fishing conditions. We nabbed a couple of big trickys before night fall and just after dark a couple of small Jewfish but goldies remained elusive. But at around 9pm I finally found them and we bagged out in 20mins. No biggies but smallest went 45cm and a couple went 60cm. I took the 3 smallest at 45, 48 and 54.

So we stopped fishing and sat back with a few cold beverages :drinking1:

We also met up with Jeffish which was always a pleasure. In the morning we shot out to the pinnacles to find a spanyard. Lost a small one but most of that area seemed bare which I was surprised about

We then bashed into the slop all the way home :surf: And here is my golden retriever "Lorna" enjoying some golden snapper 8)

Yeah not a bad trip mate but I couldn't get a goldie to save my life this trip .
We did manage a few Nanny's on the drift after you left in morning. Also found
some nice Tuna busting up around Bass rf and managed 6 good hook ups only to
be snipped off near the boat.

And Charles Pt was so ugly we pulled up in the lee side and had a sleep till the
3mt waves dropped off ,, Just gotta love fishing to do it over and over again. :captain:
