ord river metrey, finally
Been along time between posts but hit the lower ord on the weekend was supposed to be by boat but they were a few motor issues. Ended up being land based but that was alright, set up in the shade in a nice looking eddy and kicked back for the arvo with a few beers.
First hook up was a 6ft freshie which didn't appreciate being hooked, was released swam off a bit sore but minus the hook..
Next catch was some decent black bream which in turn was used for live bait.
Fished to just after dark when my mates line started running, we thought it was another croc because it went straight to the snags and would not budge, managed to turn its head and out came what every fisho wants to see, a metrey.
Quickly measured the big girl, 1.12m was recorded, my mate Stews first metrey had finally come. Finaly has bragging rights in his house as his 14 year old son as held the record of 87cm for the last six years. Now to move onto his other sons record of 1.4m queenie.
To be continued
sorry couldn't turn photo around

It polished up nice. Good one, mate.
Used to get a few metre plus barra at Torrara Bar, but that was before the Top Dam was built and no run in the river.

Not detracting from your beaut barra, Mike, just saying that I have seen monster barra in the Spillway Creek, above the bridge.
Have seen and measured 2 barra frames, 139 and 128 cm. These were trapped when the Spillway gates were closed and the water drained out of the pools.

Yeah there are some horses up that way bobj, hasnt been much water in that area for a couple of years now. Lake kununura has been getting stocked with barra for the last couple f years now i think they are just starting to catch a few now up around the metre mark.
