Well I was very lucky to have 3 days on Groote earlier this week picking some superb weather by default. Unfortunately it has probably ruined my fishing career, unless of course I relocate there.
Wow wow wow!
This is how Mother Nature intended it to be; the fishing is that good. I am working on a more detailed version for Mr Flynn so I'll get straight to the summary.
We landed 25 species over two and half days fishing, from fishing a mangrove lined bay with gin clear water and landing a couple of dozen Jacks, to throwing slugs at tuna, to getting 'owned' by 40, 50lb and larger GTs, attempting to avoid Queenies that seemed to be literally everywhere and being completely humbled by huge Cobia and Spanish Macks.

Double hookups were common as were the Bronze Whalers in certain areas. The sheer diversity of species and the volume of biomass in those beautiful turquoise waters will haunt my fishing dreams for years to come.

Sure was a memorable trip, wishing I was back there as I sip my coffee here at Barkly Homstead in 2 degrees!!
But Karumba and Cooktown can't wait.
