Successful day guiding

Post by Lats »

The parents are up and previous to this I had failed multiple times to put my Dad onto any fish at all. But with a break in the weather a couple of days ago I took the chance and went wide of Lorna Shoal. Great trip out and back and we scored a few fish too. Got Dad onto a small mack which he loved

I also caught my token coral trout, which in recent times has become a regularity for some reason

Ended the day with 8 other trickys and a saddletail snapper.
But the sharks were ferocious. And the bottom was piled with fish. I went to 2 snapper leads because we couldn't get baits to the bottom without the sharks busting you up. I suspected I hooked a few big goldies but they were monstered a few meters from the bottom. Dad couldn't believe there were several sharks circling the boat all the time
On the way home we also saw a 50-100 pod of what I think were Irriwaddy Dolphins. They were pretty cool but not interested in getting near the boat

Gotta wonder what sustains all the sharks, surely not just hooked fish :(
