Hard to comprehend that the this highest record is only 1.22°C above the average world temperature and that the previous record deviation was only 0.32°C. Does this mean in the past whenever it is hot somewhere it is cold elsewhere?

April 2016 warmest on record by a large margin ... http://www.theguardian.com/environment/ ... re-records

Will have to start watching the La Nina indicators, see if the much needed record wet season is on the way!

The latest data says 50% chance of La Nina ... http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/

Last big La Nina didn't start forming until October, so we might not know until the build-up.

Previous La Ninas ... http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/hist ... Nina.shtml

Yep, not always, but often. That's what they are saying. Just takes a while for the indicators to confirm it.

Confident scientific predictions of a solar minimum are a bit of a worry ... probably means the sun is about to explode

Probably.

Be good news for the planet if it did eventuate. Could be the reprieve it needs for us to get on with reducing our effects on global warming for the next 20 years before it inevitably flares back up again.
