Dundee etc 18-24 May.
Had a couple of mates up from SA for a week. They wanted to tick Barra and Spaniards off the list. The fishing started 2am Thursday, an hour after I dropped my wife and daughter at the airport. Launched at Buff Creek chasing a Jew on the incoming, got shark after shark, and busted off by a steamtrain of a Jew on some structure. Headed to Dundee later that arvo for 2 days fishing. Friday we headed to some marks around Bowra Shoals. First drop produced a 58cm Goldie. We kept 6 from that spot, threw a few smaller ones back as it was reasonably shallow. Moved around there a bit and headed in close chasing bust ups, nothing much decent caught. Headed into the Finniss couple hours after low. Mate got a 62 barra 2nd cast, tick. Trolled up and down a bit, flicked a bit but nothing else
Tuesday fished east arm for a rat and a Powertail, better than expected from 3 blokes who were rooted and just out for a look around and a beer.
Day 2 Dundee. Aiming for sail city, stopping at marks along the way, mostly trickies and flag. Half way there we found tuna, spent an hour or so having a ball on light spin gear. Got a couple of longtails to the boat but failed to land one for dinner. Landed only mack tuna, kept one for bait.
Got to sail city, trolled lures, sounded around and pulled up on some good bottom. Caught trevally, a small trout (delicious), a couple of big sharks and busted off by something heavy and powerful after 20mins fighting. Amongst that we landed 3 mackerel on drifted slabs of fresh tuna. 1m, 1.4m,1.5m. Kept the 2 smaller ones, mine was neaty gaffed and not really needed, it went back and swam off well, hopefully to survive.
Planned a shoal bay lock in for Monday, but failed to rest on Sunday as planned so went to Shady barrage and Marrakai track, nothing decent landed, but barrage fished well around high tide before we got there. Heard a few blokes just left with a decent feed.Tuesday fished east arm for a rat and a Powertail, better than expected from 3 blokes who were rooted and just out for a look around and a beer.

Cheers fellas. Was definately a good result, the best part is that it could've been better had we really had a good crack. But it's hard to stay disciplined when you're with mates, so considering the effort we're all pretty happy. Yeah the mack was bl..dy good, due to a broken rod the day before though we were using the back up outfit, TLD25, there's definately better gear to be fighting big fish on.
