Journalists!!!

Ya just gotta luv ém.

Was listening to commercial news on radio today.

One report was about 2 suspects who led police a merry chase on the north/south highway and then abandoned the vehicle just north of Childers.

Reporter went on to say "police were deployed in saturation near Childers and especially near "Dogsquäd".

Having lived in the area I thought Geez, Childers must be really going ahead to have a new northern suburb.

Then the reporter played a statement from a police spokesman which broke me up.

The report that the journo quoted from was :

Police were sent to Childers northern locality including the dog squad.

Usually its the ABC journos who get up to this sort of silliness but they were not guilty this time.

Regards

Expect it to get worse. Media company budgets have shrunk the past 10 years and it is cheaper to employ junior journos.

Also very little budget around for investigative journalism, it is up to the social media to keep the bastards honest now, but will it work?

I think the answer is in the intelligence of the consumer. So much cr.p through all media and it is up to the consumer to think critically of the content. There is far to much commentary rather than reporting though it is just another means of filling the 24 hour news cycle.

The journo's I have always admired the most were Kerry O'Brien and Gorge Megalogenus.

The whole state of the media is in disarray. I honestly feel bad for anyone working in the field these days.
