Back to Bynoe

Post by kahawai kevin »

Attempted a trip to Bynoe on Thursdays big tides. With a bit of rain overnight and still more in the morning on the way out, things were looking a bit damp.
Put in just before the very high tide and had a bit of a cruise around on the Eastern side of Indian island. Having not been to Bynoe since the 90’s I wanted to get my bearings.
Once the tide started to drop, we hit a couple of rocky areas. Had a few good hits, dropped one or two and snagged the odd cod along the way.
Old mate George managed a nice 63cm barra but that seemed to be all on offer for the day. Some tentative strikes….but nothing else we threw at them seemed to get them going.
Even with the super large tides, the water was still reasonably clear in spots, which made for a bit of sight casting on the flats…..unfortunately to no avail.
At least the weather we were worried about cleared up and left us with very calm conditions right up until the end of the day. Wouldn’t be a Bynoe trip without getting soaked at some stage.
