Million Dollar Fish latest

Post by Matt Flynn »

Million Dollar Fish latest; there are 28,000+ registrations ... if they all come in October, as you would expect if you were keen to be first onto those $10,000 barra, that will be 1000 fishos hitting NT waters per day.

Two or three per boat, that's 350 to 500 boats per day.

Hopefully they won't all go to Corroboree Billabong on Day One

I am told 75% of registrations are southerners.

Tagging and releasing has already begun for the October start and may continue beyond the start date.

I do hope southerners don't fish landbased as per the piccy on one of the promotional websites.

All in all a hugely successfully promotion, it would be great to see a FFFer score a tagged baz.

Apparently catching the 76 required fish to tag and release has been a bit of a battle due to recent poor recruitment.

Does anyone know who has been given the job to catch, tag and release the 75 barra? Surely they will make a video of the million dollar fish being released?

That would be Bill Sawynok from Infofish

Tagging and releasing is already under way, but if you catch one of those fish before the event starts you are supposed to release it or hand it in so another can be released :D

It would go straight into a fish pond until after the start of the comp.

Do fish have to be alive when you send in your photo for verification? I didn't see anything that said this was a requirement.

Now what would happen if you were fishing Gunn Lakes and hooked the Million dollar fish. Before you know it your mate picks up the rod and claimed he caught it. But then it was released only to be caught again half an hour later and you both claim the capture. :bs:

Gee I hope Camfish hasn't entered

Just eight days to go before Million Dollar Fish kicks off and all is quiet, or so the tackle shops tell me.

They say they have had enquiries but certainly not on par with what you might expect from 30,000 or so registrations. And about 75% of entries are southerners.

About 30,000 fishos in the NT in October would have been interesting ...
