Finally managed some fishing time this week for the first time in months.
Launched at nightcliff at first light and headed to lee point.
Water was nice and flat most of the morning.
Trawled and flicked around for some macks but only ended up with a cod and a nice sized tarpon which gave my mate a great fight on light gear.
Not much happening on the surface Just one area with some schools of small quenies busting up but there were going down as soon as the boat got near.
Went over to the end of the reef just before low tide got a burley trail going and set some live baits.
I fished for gar for a while to stock up on skip baits while the other blokes on the boat chased small reefies getting a good number of cod, stripes, bluebone and trickies which were all released.
Just after the turn one of the rods went off and a nice sizes queenie was landed.
The sea breeze came just after lunch and got a bit lumpy so headed back to the ramp about 2
Good to finally get back on the water and get a some fish.

The gars were very hard to get.
There was a good school of them at the back of the boat
They loved the burley but were shy of the bait.
Worked hard for them until the tide turned then they were a bit more hungry.
Dont usually have that much trouble getting them.

Re: lee point friday
I had another try this morning at dawn , did better today.
Tried a mix of old pillies and bread in a onion bag at the
at waters edge, worked a treat 30 or so for six net shots.
