Solid harbour barra

Post by bigglen »

Hey Guys,
Its been a bl..dy long time between posts for me but this one was worth posting,
I went for a look down at East Arm boat ramp late last week in the middle of the day, that's when I saw the back bone of this girl mooching in the shallows and with a few heart pounding moments I managed to place a lure half a meter from her nose with a few small twitches she inhaled my plastic and the shallows erupted,
She put up a solid fight off the slippery low tide rocks where I had to give chase, I got to the point where it was time to decide how I was going to try and land her with no net or grips and by myself things were about to get interesting, i took one last step closer to the water which was not the driest rock i could have chosen and i ended up slipping into the p..s upto my waist, from here the fish was pretty close to done and so was i from here i managed to get a hold of the line and threw the rod up away from the water and played her last efforts by hand and glided her over my lap which finished with one of the tightest bear hugs i have ever given, once she was secure it was time to try and climb out of the drink and back up the rocks for a few snap shots, upon my turning around there was a small audience of people that had pretty much seen the whole thing unfold and were applauding my efforts, with a quick measure on the mat of truth she had pushed 95cm and i was stoked and stuffed at the same time with a few snap shots taken it was time for release and i wasn't keen on climbing down the rock again so into the car with this fish on my lap i drove round to the ramp and right down to the water where the fish was released to fight another day,

Cheers Guys
Big Gleno

Awesome fish and great story! Have slipped myself there a few times but always somehow managed not to end up in the drink!
It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

“Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime”

"Soon after I embraced the sport of angling I became convinced that I should never be able to enjoy it if I had to rely on the cooperation of the fish."
