Charles point cobia.

Post by 2 brothers fishing »

Hi all headed out to charles point friday after work and spent the weekend camping and fishing had a few mates drive over as well. Got a heap of different species but the high light was my mate getting an 80cm cobia out of his tinnie trolling for queenies

Didnt think they were possible not far out off a beach.

Nice work,

We have caught a couple about the same size on livebaits just above the Elizabeth river bridge (a few years ago now) so they can probably turn up just about anywhere.

You are more likely to get one on a shallow reef or beach then out wide. Nice fish.

Not a common catch, only ever caught three, one of Perons, one of Angler's Reef and one of Stokes Hill Wharf.

I think it's one of those messy ones where it's a bit of both. There are different species but in some parts of aus certain types of puffer are called toadfish. I always thought the little ones here were different to the puffers but maybe they aren't
