Dundee/Perons/LS

Post by Anon »

We have hit the water a couple of times lately in the new boat.

We decided to hit LS on Easter Monday with the misses. We ended up with a few nice fish including Golden Snapper, Trout and these two nice Cod. We were in shallow water so kept the larger one and left the smaller one I am holding go. Unsure of this breed also (possibly Potato Cod) I have never eaten one so left it alone. But the larger one was delicious. Anyone know the type of cod they both are?

We then hit the Blue holes and caught 1832 Queenfish and 932 Trevally.

Ok those numbers are not 100% accurate but you get the picture. These fish were everywhere and it was good to put the misses and her friend onto a couple of fish.

My trevally and the pic of the bad boy hooked up. They are great fun on the new Shimano Anarchy rod with a 4000 saros with 15lb braid.

We then headed to Sail city to chase some macks and tuna around. Unfortunately the weather was cr.p and we only got this trevally off the reef before we made the call to head into the Perons to get out of the wind.
I then nailed my first ever Jewie which I was pretty wrapped about. Its been a long time coming. Thanks to a good bloke on this page for the advice. It all worked out perfectly.

Interesting though the Jew took a large poop gulp on the top hook which was sitting above a nice big bait of Stripey and Squid.

Cheers all :drinking5:

There were so many there it was fish a cast. Other fish were trying to eat the lure out of the mouth of the fish on our lines. Triple hookups for over an hour.
Insane fishing

Well done brendan, the queen its and Trevor's can be good fun out there on days like that

Couple nice fish at the Perons too, good stuff.
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!

Hey mate, nice catch. What size boat are you in and how long does it take to get to blue hole.I wouldnt mind putting my kids on to a few fish.
I have a 5.6 with a 90hp 2 stroke, i havent been to far out of the harbour yet as i am still learning my way around. Is it better on Neaps or spring tides?, any info would be great,
