Big Blue - Fun with mates.

Post by Anon »

We decided to hit Dundee on Sunday 29 March 15, for the neaps and were rewarded for our efforts.

We headed towards Blaze for a look at a few spots and hoping to stir up our first jewie. But upon our arrival we were greeted by a massive school of large Long Tail Tuna and a mixture of macks. Out came the spinning gear and on the first cast we hooked a nice tuna. Awesome take right at the boat. 15 minutes later we had the little tasty sushimi in the boat. First Tuna of the year and I tell you what it was delicious.......

The Wife and a mate of mine landed a couple of small macks which was good to see their faces and also not bad on the chew so in the box they went also.

We then moved inside the Perons and around the Great Wall of China. Landed a few goldies and a nice queenie. Only a couple of pics though as we were eating lunch, drinking a couple of beers. We had our hands full

We called it a day soon after catching a few more Cod, Cobia, Goldies and what I think was a crimson snapper. Kind of pink in colour with a snapper shape.

We then planned to hit shady on Tuesday. Unfortunately we didnt want to do the run along the dirt road. So we changed plans and went to the little Finniss for a run. Arrived with no issues other than taking a while to find the channel. We then spoke with a few boats working hard and all said it was quiet..... We noted they were all trolling so we decided to cast lures around and see what we could find for a few hours.

We ended up with 5 barra to 70cm before then heading out to the blue.

We again found tuna and macks with a few large cobia in a school just inside Point Jenny.
out came the spin gear and on the first cast I was spooled within a matter of seconds.

Mate got a nice Cobia and we landed a few more Mackeral. Unfortunately all the Tuna were out paced and we couldnt get near them without hooking a Mack or Cobia.

We then hit Sail City and dropped bait to the bottom. We scored a few Red Emperor, Golden Snapper, Tricky Snapper, Coral Trout and a nice Mangrove Jack.
All in all an awesome couple of days out on the water.

Thanks all. It was a great couple of days. We all had a ball and finished up with an awesome dinner at Berry Springs pub on the way home.

A few nice fish there

Well done, might have to head there next week :-)
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!

Where we were fishing it was 57-65 ft from memory

Luckily all the fish there were eating size which we kept or Trevally which were able to be released.

Think we kept 7 fish and moved on. Was an awesome day out.
