Leaders ck ramp
Hi guys,
I was thinking of heading out to Leaders creek before the Easter rush. Can someone tell me the water level I need to use the public boat ramp?
Cheers

Pretty sure the lord of the ramp told me 2.8, but yeah I always use around 3.5

You need to add 90 min to Darwin time for the tide at the ramp too.

Hey newbie girl, becareful of the rockbar as soon as you head out. Its 10-20mtrs as soon as you head out. I wouldn't personally go lower than 2.8, cause at 2.5 my prop got a facial. My boat's a 4.5 quinnie. Yep work on 1.5hr later than darwin, bit less towards the mouth. sorry LATS not to undermine you
Are you leaving your car there overnight? or leaving it at the base camp

Re: Leaders ck ramp
Cheers guys,
I dropped in around the 3m mark and had plenty of water in my 4.35m boat. I paid the money and left the car at the "secure parking" which was bit of a joke. We got back to the ramp around the time we said we would return and couldn't find anyone. Went and tried the door of the car and found it unlocked with the keys in the ignition. I drove down picked the boat up and when I pulled up out the front to tie the boat down, the guy came and said sorry he didn't see me and asked me to send photos of the catch to put on his website. Anyway I forgot the email address he told me as I was busy getting the boat ready to take off home. Sorry too bad.

Yep Newbie Girl, I've heard it all to often about the operaters of the base camp. They had big shoes to fill from the previous owners, and I think a lot would agree they're falling way short of the mark. It's a shame, he's not a bad bloke Brian. They do need to consider adopting a system, for when you return and your waiting at the ramp to be retrieved. I have suggested a bell, I even asked if we could radio him, but has fallen on deaf ears.

Re: Leaders ck ramp
They very quick to point it just a secure compound that you pay 20 bucks , the launch and retrieve is a courtesy service. I do the right thing by supporting a local business but I question myself every time I self launch and retrieve. Recon they lost 50% of their business since Chris left.ambush wrote:Yep Newbie Girl, I've heard it all to often about the operaters of the base camp. Re: Leaders ck ramp
I have cut them some slack about the launch service as apparently Brian has had Ross river.
But I do think it is bs that you are paying for secure parking, and your car is much more venerable for doing so. It wouldn't be that hard to lock the cars and keep the keys in office, however I guess they don't as they are not always there and if you wanted to get your car you couldn't. But then that goes back to my point that your car is left unsupervised in the wide open unlocked and with keys in it.
Unfortunately I dont think I will go with them next time, as Im more worried about my car being there than in the carpark locked up
