Fake grass/ astro turf on the casting deck and floor

Post by Mr RiverBabe »

Has anyone done this at all. Carpet gets bl..dy hot under feet up here and was thinking the fake grass will be softer and subdue the heat a little.
Worried about blood and guts stinking it out and ease of cleaning though. Any thoughts?

I've seen it done before, its not cheaper than carpet so you might be better off going for tube matting. Comfy, removable and doesn't get too hot.. Just exy at about $100/metre...

I don't rate the tube matting- gets hot too and catches hooks and is hard to clean - I like carpet and thongs

I had astro turf on a boat floor years ago. No problems with cleaning it and hooks didn't seem to get caught either.
that was back in Vic so I didn't have to worry about the heat though.

I fished all day Sunday without the canopy for most of the day and the tube matting was cool as a cucumber.

Be good to see, I might put carpet on my cast deck as tube matting will not be suitable due to the hatch door. The paint gets as hot as hell right now.

Electric mount tig welded in, deck lights dummy fitted and tested. Bit more wiring to do and a few blanking plugs to fit for future deck wash and spot light plans
Then to finish casting deck and fit carpet then will take final pics and it will be awesome

Full pics and build thread coming.
