Nightcliff Ramp
Thinking of heading out from Nightcliff tomorrow, low tide is 3.41, is this enough water to launch here, i know its easier to launch than retrieve here, i don't really want to be backing into the sand.....
Cheers,
Brad

I don't have access to my 'journal' ATM, but from memory that'll be right on the limit - and you'll definitely be off the concrete at the bottom of the ramp and into the sand (which as you probably know goes nearly horizontal - not much gradient).
It really does need another 'dredge' out at the bottom of the ramp - but with wet season looming it'll be filled back in after 2 blows .....

yer, 4m is good. less than 3m is no good, anywhere in between and you'll be filling your cars chassis with salt water.

Re: Nightcliff Ramp
Last time they dug up the sand at the bottom of the ramp and piled it up 2m away. Guess what happened...

Does anyone think a pontoon at Nightcliff ramp would be a good idea, or at least somewhere to tie the boat up whilst parking the car etc ?

Great idea cause its probably the best location but the worst ramp to use.mako wrote:Does anyone think a pontoon at Nightcliff ramp would be a good idea, or at least somewhere to tie the boat up whilst parking the car etc ?

Imagine how busy that would make it there on a Sunday afternoon!balou wrote:Great idea cause its probably the best location but the worst ramp to use.mako wrote:Does anyone think a pontoon at Nightcliff ramp would be a good idea, or at least somewhere to tie the boat up whilst parking the car etc ?
BTW be careful of the afternoon wind in there once the tide reaches above 6m as the waves can come over the rock wall.
