headed to the mouth of the South on the weekend with my old man and another mate. two other boats also joined us.
had a great time, bagged out on goldies and would have bagged out on barras but we ate some and threw some back early.
fished mostly Brooke Creek for the barras, had a look at little brook also. goldies all came from the reef between in the islands.
we ended up sleeping in the creek mouth on field island, no bugs and nice and cool. didnt need the fans, but needed a blanket to sleep
nothing too big to talk about, I got the biggest barra, which was 75cm and the biggest goldie was only 60 something. lost somethig massive on the reefs. forgot the news paper to enter the seadogs comp too, bummer
the other boats all manages about the same catch, with no big barras to be found. the biggest was in the high 80's, other boats seemed to say the same.
the river has changed a little bit, but nothing to drastic, only slowed down a couple of times on the way down, but on the way back was full noise all the way. some bloke in a surtees tried to pass the three boats on the way back up river, but was funny to watch then cut the corners trying to pass, then dart back in behind us they headed for mud bars.
