I was skeptical about the Giant Groper caught in Shoal Bay

Post by Scamper »

A few months back a post was of a giant groper caught in Shoal Bay.
I was skeptical till last weekend.
MY APOLOGY.

Last W/E just in the mouth of Buffalo creek, tied dropping, 2 blokes fishing in a 4 meter boat next to us in about 2 1/2 ft of water.
They are getting real excited.
Then their boat tipped violently , water exploded around them, hoots, shouts and regain their balance.
We initially though it was a croc.
The blokes came past us after that , said a huge "groper" was following their boat, right beside it in clear water.
They couldn't believe it, 4 to 5 foot long, then it turned towards them and rammed their boat, nearly knocking them out.
They were shell shocked and shaken up with the experience.

That was us. :drinking8:

What a beauty of a fish! Here's a link to the video.

At first we thought it was a croc with its tail paddling around, but once we saw it was a groper we couldn't believe it. The video doesn't do it justice. We followed it around for a while but only got the last of it on camera...Probably the most entertaining part as well haha. Easily over 2 meters.
I have never seen such a big fish move so fast!!
Take it easy, and if it's easy take it!!
Oh stop it! Get off the BUS!

Ripper fish, great video guys well done :applause:

Had a big one cruise around us at the blue holes a few times now between the holes

Amazing to see such a big powerful fish in the shallows
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!
