Re: Cobia from wharf
I dont doubt that for a minute!
that thing is a HORSE!
Its got a 20kg head!
Biggest one I saw was a land based one from Port Stephens in NSW, It got smashed by a shark on the way in, head and shoulders went 17kg, would have been over 30kg whole, and looked about half as big as that thing youre holding!
Well done, where did it come from? Did you spear it?

Re: Cobia from wharf
Just having a laugh Barratrooper in light of the chat bar talking about the cobia. Big bugger though, this one was 172 pounds, shot in Brazil. I've never shot one myself and I reckon i'd be pretty nervous about pulling the trigger on that sucker.
I know the one your talking about, Phil Atkinson on land based addiction. Used to be my stomping ground. I had a mate who shot a 37kg cobe near there and ended up 3km from where he shot it before the boat caught up and someone gave another gun.
I haven't seen many big cobes up here, most seem around the 6-10kg mark.

We got one on charter a few years back that went 32kg but It aint spit in comparrison to that beast. The one we got straightened the gaff and nearly pulled me in the pisss. Lucky we got another shot at it. Could only dream of shooting that 80kg one. Want to be a good shot.
