Triple barrel shotguns

Post by mippa »

Hi all,

Looking at upgrading my shotty soon.

I was checking out my mates new triple barrel shotty the other night and it looks pretty good but he hasn't had a chance to use it yet. They are about $1800 locally so the same as a decent shotty.

Anyone heard much about them or would it be worth waiting til they've been around a bit longer first?

What's your thoughts

Na it's only like 3.8kg. Felt lighter than my double.
Yeah doubles are good enough but just the thought of having that third incase sounds appealing

My mate has shot one of those akkar 3 triple barrel 12g he prefers using double barrel and besides when was two shots ever not enough :p I reckon just find a well balanced double barrel that fits you, won't shoot well if gun doesn't fit properly just my opinion

Never shot one but seen one in action, fires three shots really quickly but didn't see the point really, maybe it's for when your in a hurry hunting geese as it would drop a few fair birds from a flock I reckon accuracy might be the thing to get used too though. I'll stick to a under and over

Who ever said "when do you need more than 2 shot" obviously doesn't Remember the good old days of 5 shot pump actions and semi autos.

I have often shot 2 from a flock and thought I could have droped 2 more

I miss my 6 shot semi auto Barretta. Use to love cutting a flock in half.

I have only use a under over half dozen times since the gun amnesty. If you can got a triple barrel for that kinda weight I go the triple. The more shots the better I reckon. I handed back 2 semi and 2 pump action shotgun and own one since.

I'm going to get gun license back this year I think. I didn't renewal it 8-9 year ago .
It doesn't look easy anymore so I been putting it off .

I would try the 3 - if it's not too heavy.

I really don't like the look of them, from a purely aesthetic point of view. But the extra shot is alluring. (Never shot one, or seen one fired)
I wouldn't mind the idea of one with 20in barrels!

Having said that, I really should not read blogs that just make me want to buy another gun. Woes of being a student with no spare cash...

Fit is the main thing with accuracy of a new shotgun
That's why I bought an Escort ,cheap but fully adjustable stock that I could sought out myself without a gunsmith
If you buy a new shotty make sure you have it fitted to you by the shop selling it
The past is history, the future is mystery, the moment is a gift and that's why it's called the present

agree shaggs. i tried a few of the expensive guns and they didnt feel right for me but the escort felt perfect. only prob with it ive had a few issues with it falling apart. they need to put loctite on the screws inside them or something.
