Yes Drifter the Two up Tosser Ben (Sponge) Jam doesn't know to be thankful and rejoice that he lives in Australia. Be great full to the fallen Servicemen and also rejoice in the fact that he nor his generation have had to fight in either World War.

Re: Lest We Forget
There was a time, not so very long ago when ANZAC Day split the community and defacing monuments was not unheard of. Servicemen were advised not to wear their uniforms in public. Sad but true.

Re: Lest We Forget
Ben Jam, appropriate that you used a quote from Walter Winchell “never above you, never below you, always beside you”Ben Jam wrote:I won't comment further on this thread out of respect to all service personal past and present.

Lest we forget.
FYI that was a wedding quote.
The most controversial part of Winchell's career were his attempts, especially after World War II, to destroy the careers of personal or political enemies. A favorite tactic was to accuse them of being communists or of sexual impropriety.
Maybe Dh is gay!

Re: Lest We Forget
Just back OT for a minute
I usually catch up with my mates from the 70's at different locations in Oz.
this Anzac we returned to a big waterway near Wellington NSW. The dawn service we go to is in a small village of Stuart Town (formally known as Iron Bark) where there are around 15 people attending.
this year there was a small contingent from the RAAF - a real difference to the bush setting we have.
