Checked out Stokes Hill Wharf before first light on Sunday. Saw a big Queenie smash a squid off the surface and quickly put my slick rig next to the boil. Three jigs and the Queenie circled around and I was on. It would've given the metre mark a nudge but fishing on my own I didn't have a way to land it. Climbing down the ladder didn't seem like a good option so I took a couple of wraps of braid to test the weight for a lift. Quick flick of the tail and it busted me off.
Didn't hang around after that, I headed to destination number 2. East Point for the start of the outgoing at sunrise. There was already half a dozen people fishing but I was still able to get spot I was after. Someone else landed a nice Golden Trev and had another run. The water was nice and clear once there was a bit more light i saw grey mack cruising around. The bread berley trial that another fisho had going for milkies was bringing heaps of gar which was no doubt helping. Had a few touches a slick rig probably longtoms, then I go snipped off. Rerigged with a crome and light wire. I was on within a couple of casts, a nice little mackeral. The little bugger managed to catch me on the shin leaving a nice row of teeth marks luckly nothing too serious. Another smaller version and a few longtoms followed before it went quiet again.
Had a quick look at Lee point but I slipped on the oyster rocks and decided I'd bleed enough for one day.

You sure you were at East Point when you caught that Mack? Was there late last week and there were none there! Gotta get yourself a drop gaff; no point doing all the hard work and then losing a nice fish like that. Also need to make sure you have some good footwear - they can do some nasty stuff to skin (have a mate who tried to cushion his fall with his face - not a pretty sight, mind you he wasn't a pretty sight beforehand either!!
Good stuff, a very pleasant way to start a Sunday.

i think i might give this spot a go over the next few weekends the wind has been playing havoc with my mojo lately, so flinging metals might be a better option
tasty looking fish you got there too
i'm yet to catch one so i can cross it off my fff species guide

B) n-1 (where n is the number of rods which would cause your other half to dump you)

Great post, nice little fish that I bet tasted beautiful. I intend to work East Point soon as well.
