I awoke at some hideous time in the morning, jumped in the car and headed to Darrens. The car and boat had been packed and all we had to do was pick up Frank and head off to meet Millsy. We met at truck city, bought a feed and had a chat. Then it was time to hit the road In no time we were on the arhnem, with a brief stop at Jabiru to fill up and get a few drinks for the dirt, then back on the road we went. We arrived at Cahills, and slowly made our way across

The arrival of the dirt greeted us with its infamous corrugations and the sight of an upturned car as well as another busted up car further on, left us with thoughts that it was going to be a long trip there. Luckily the corrugations did ease and we were able to arrive at Port Bremer before 3pm , with the worst part of the road being about 20km either side of .
Once everything was unpacked we put the boats in and tied them up to the pontoon, but soon untied them as we couldn't resist an afternoon sesh up the local creek. Within the first couple of casts Darren had hooked a nice little barra to make it the first fish of the trip but as the wind was being a pain we moved further around the creek to anchor up and cast at snags. Jack after Jack came over the side as we hooked up on nearly every cast

After having enough of Jacks we switched to hard bodies and flicked towards a bend were there was a submerged snag, some little barra were hooked with the biggest going 68cm as well as a 75cm blue salmon and some descent queenfish

After a descent afternoon creek session we went back to camp and had a few drinks around the fire before bed An early 5am start on Sunday saw us tailing behind Millsy to the first reef in near perfect coditions and once we arrived at the spot they had already had a triple hook up on their boat, as they pulled some stonking goldies up, the school came up with them and they were everywhere first jig for us saw a triple aswell, then it was one after the other until the school moved on and the trevally moved in. Darren also got a couple of big trout......Couldnt ask for a better start to the morning

After one of the best sessions on snapper we moved on and found some shallow reefs and bommies were we popped and jigged around for some stonking brassy trevally and some descent reefies including a Mauri Sea Perch i got in about 4m of water

On Tuesday night we gathered some mullet from the beach and headed up the creek to fish the outgoing tide. After anchoring on a small bend where Millsy had got some good fish during the day, we realised that the mullet in our 'live bait bucket' were dead so there was no other choice but to throw out a dead one in hope of not getting a powertail or a shark. After about 5 minutes Franks rod started to sing and then the fish leaped out of the water, but it was too dark to see what it was. As it got closer to the boat it decided to have another jump, the reflection of the moon on the scales gave us the glimpse it was a descent barra, Frank finally got her boat side and Darren slid the net under her.....78cm. The action didnt stop there with Darren boating a 79cm barra and Millsy boating another 78cm fish. There was something wrong with me that night, as everyone else was catching them i just seemed to keep dropping fish after fish

The next couple of days we ended up smashing the spaniards and more trevally around the islands and out wide, as well as sneaking in a night fish on the reefs for some more stonking snapper
