I'll make this short and to the point as I don't have much time. I took the friday off work and went camping at Turtle Beach for three days.
Day 1- On Friday we fished a few reef with in 10km of the camp site. Every spot we fish produced fish it was unreal fishing. We were only fishing in about three meters of waters and the golden snapper were thick. It was one after the other, and all solid fish ranging from 35cm to 50cm. Ajay got fish of the day with a 72cm golden snapper which was a PB for him (he has the photo so hopefully he will throw it up).
Day 2- We decided to fish the reef again early before the wind picked up in hope for a jew. Once again the Golden snapper were thick and by this stage if we were keeping the fish we would have filled three eskys by now. Our bait didn't have much of a chance on the bottom so we were talking about moving on then not even a second later I got a solid hit and run and knew it was a jewy. I finally got it to the boat got a quick picture and then tried to release it but it to late , no big deal it didn't go to waste. I didn't really want to catch another so I started to fillet the jew while Ajay worked hard to get a bait passed the golden snapper to score a jew. But it wasn't to be and we moved on.
We went to the mouth of the south and fished the first creek on the eastern side (can't remember what its called). Fished the mouth for about hour and scored a 55cm, there were big fish on the sounder but they didn't want a bar it, so we moved further up and found some great looking water, nice little eddy on my second cast produced a 62cm. We worked that area a bit more and I got a 76cm, flicked into the same place and I got crunched again, but I was to busy bragging to Ajay and didn't set the hooks, the barra jumped and spat the lure .
It started to get a bit late and we could a big storm coming so we decided to call it a day and travel back to the camp to tell the rest of the blokes what they missed.
Day 3- Started very much the same, the game plan was to hit the reef for a jew and few take home golden snapper before having to bee line it back to the boat ramp before the wind picked up.
So we got to the reef and surprise, surprise golden snapper everywhere so Ajay and I boated a few which went into the esky. Once again we were talking about moving on and then Ajay's reel started screaming he was onto a nice jew and the monkey was off his back . We got a quick picture and then let him go .
We started moving back to the ramp and we had still had a few hours up our sleeve before we could get the boat out so we hit Wildman river. There was mullet everywhere and big ones too, I was starting to get very excited and at this stage and we were seeing easy meter barra launching themself out of the water. The sound was showing big fish, and they were boofing around us. But for some reason we were only get small barra around the 40-50cm mark. We trolled we got small fish, we flicked we got small fish. Ajay was on a bit of a roll out fishing me 3:1, I must of changed my lure 10 times We moved about hundred meters and found some more fish on the sounder, Ajay trolled up two more barra We changed tactic and started flicking into a little drain with a nice snag at the front of it, I got a nice 56cm followed by Ajay getting a 64cm, I quickly flicked back in same spot and pulled 50cm
With the tide in a bit more I wanted to hit the first spot again, I tied on a big ass to try and tempt some of these big barra that we could see on the sound. As soon as we went over the snag I was getting hits, we only had about 15 minute before we had to leave so we did two more troll runs same snag more hits but no fish.
We pulled the boat out and made our way back to Darwin, what a weekend can't wait to do it again.
Sorry the photo's are not in order.

Thanks BJ. Would i be mad to head out there in the next month or so given rains are here or put off camping till drys out a bit ie. next year?. I,ve heard the track will shake poop off a woollen blanket, but we would have 2 utes with 1 towing a 4.6 tinnie on a newish trailer. Just wondering if the track would let us out(or in for that matter) if/when a decent rain surprises us. If not April/May will be my go. So many questions i know but at least forum answers arnt full of too much like i seem to cop with certain work aquantainces. Cheers in advance.

You should be right on the next set of neaps, you can put in the south alligator and travel the 80km to the mouth which you have to work the tides or put in at point stuart and 40km in the open water and battle the weather. I'll be going back, I think it will be my best chance to get a few big barra (maybe even a PB).

Just to add I don't think you will be able to get to pococks beach by the track because one of the creeks was pretty high already. We had two car meet us out there and they said if it rain any heavier they might not get back out.
