Went for a quick trip out this morning in between showers with my 12 year old son Matty in the Elizebeth. It was pretty calm so we went to our normal spot to test drive the ipilot, it worked a treat nice a quiet and easy to use. Wasn't expecting it , but we found a fair bit a activity and Matty was sight casting and got a 70cm ( his PB) on Yo Zuri minnow. This was caught on the last 2 hours on the run out, left them biting to get back out of the squalls. Good quick trip out, 10 mins from home.

Gidday wade,
That looks like a 480 formosa? Got a similar size boat myself and was wondering what size minn kota you have to push it along? My other query is where have you mounted the battery/s (I assume if it is over 55lb you need two batteries due to the 24V???)

Matt, Its a 55lb Minn Kota Ipilot 54in,they are only 12v. The battery is a 105 amp hr deep cycle, I understand the Minn kota draws approx 50 amp on full power which you only use a fraction of. The battery is mounted down the back passenger side and I used 10mm2 tinned cable (3m long) to an anderson plug connection at front. You only need 1 battery and its got plenty of power to push the Formosa around. On the big run out today I used speed power 3 out of 10 to drive me around no worries. They are well worth the money, the GPS part of the auto pilot = more time to flick lures. Love it!! Yeah Ibbsy- should have got one a long time ago!!!!

Cheers mate, am looking at fitting one to mine (seajay haven sports 540). Gonna have to do my research though but it sounds like the 55 might do the trick.

Firstly, good fish. Secondly, I am so jealous. I got the 80lb 24V for xmas and its still not on the boat as I had to come away for work. Getting it put on in a couple of weeks. I hope to also have a successful 1st trip like you... well done

they are a great unit arnt they ,did you get the foot pedal as well they are even better with that
Max does this just mean you have the normal gps ipilot with spot lock etc, but you also have the opption of foot control as well ???
I thought you had to deactivate the ipilot if you fit the foot pedal and vica versa
nah mate depends which model youve got, you can use both with the terrova model. Ive got both, but ive only used the foot pedal once, and that was to make sure it works.
