While the fishing is a bit slow I thought I would throw the sight casting subject around, I enjoy sight casting barra but find the larger ones to be very shy in the clean water. This is a challenge I enjoy but find 99% of them just watch the lure or follow it back to the boat. How is everyone else go trying to temp them cautious old girls ?

Have sight cast heaps of barra (no bigger than 70) up the top of Magella during run off in clear water & they always seemed hungry for rubbers & take some stopping in the current.Seen one big barra cruising in Bleesers one day with what looked like a fly stuck in its mouth but it wasnt interested in feeding.

Great fun, gets the heart pumping!!
Great Pics nocturnal.
Nothing better than seeing them, then being able to land the cast in the right place to get them to eat what you offer without spooking them!
Usually get a few each year along the upper reaches of the South Alligator, walking the banks, its great fun. Sometimes they like the hard bodies, sometimes sp's, and as you said sometimes they just watch em go past, or spook real easy and take off. Got a few last year up to 80cm.
I have a couple of spots at Gunn Point Blue holes too where you always see them cruising round, its a thrill watching them and trying to get them to eat something, havn't got too many over 70cm though, seen a few big girls but not been able to get one of them yet!!! Jacks are good fun there as well, can sight cast to them as well.

I was at Larrakeyah rockwall having a flick and saw a bazza that would have been well over the metre cruising along the rocks, did so for about 10 minutes and it didn't bat an eyelid at anything I chucked near it

Seeing big fish like that cruise past is almost as good as catching them..... Nah I can't back that up. Great to see, better if you have your line connected to them.

Not sure if evryone has picked up on it but the fish pictured in the water was sight casted and is shown in the photo above, surprising how much darker the fish looks out of the water. I also have this one on video, I will try to upload it when I get some time.
