Having gotten rained upon severely and flooded severely in 2011 (only marginally better in 2010), it was thought we might delay our Roper expedition until later this year (about Sept as one person put it).
Sanity prevailed and the 3rd week of April was chosen as the departure date from Rocky.
Now there's no rain in the NT!!!
What have u fellas been doing to the climate up there?
Have given up trying to time it right for the run-off. Have gone back to lazy days on a beautiful river, green water and cold beer. Might even get a fish or two.
So what's the story?
Can we expect rain any time soon?

Mate you will get fish there all the time anyway. Sounds like you blokes have it pretty well nutted. I should be down that way at the same time, but probably just shoot down for a couple of nights on the boat at Blackfellas / Prawn farm area. Like to leave the car at Tomato Island, but not camp, too crowded these days as I am sure you have noticed!

I can think of at least 3 Qld dams bigger than that piddly little drain u call Darwin Harbour. 1 is twice the size.
If we stayed home, what would u fellas do for money into the coffers?
Never mind the Edith Bridge incident, the old Commonwealth Gravy Train must be just about due for an accident considering the one-way heavy loads and lack of maintenance over the years.

Don't worry Ronj, I'm pretty sure we'd survive without Queenslanders filling up thier chest freezers from our rivers because they can't eat the swamp dogs they catch in the supersize stocked dams.
And never mind hand outs - how's the flood tax going for you mate?

Shame on some of you.
A measure of society is how it treats its senior citizens. Eskimos put their senior citizens out on the ice to die alone. Unwanted.
I have that same feeling. Sharks are circling. A fear of bullies lurks just below the surface.
I'm just a poor old pensioner in declining years and health. Putting aside a few cents each week from my aged pension to make my last few years happy ones. I can't afford a freezer.
Over the years I worked hard to pay my taxes to ensure that a steady stream of money went to my northern cousins to help keep them in the style to which they'd like to become accustomed.
Did I mind? Of course not. After all, they'd remember my contribution to their lifestyle in my advancing years. Wouldn't they??
Indications appear otherwise.
Many people said at the time when the euthanasia law was passed that NT society had lost its way. Put older people down when they become a burden. That's why older nomadic visitors travel in numbers in NT. Safety concerns.
If anyone manages to get down to the Roper in April, look us up.
We're the camp with the oxygen bottles, wheelie-walkers and nurses. The one with the cars formed into a circle wagon=train style.
