Hit the Elizabeth river today trying a new creek for the first time after my regular creek got a bit boring and i thought it was time to explore further. My sister and i decided to have friday off having a four day weekend and as we left the ramp i realised how rough it actually was. I thought once we got up the creek we would be fine but the wind roared up the creek as it kept blowing the boat sideways as we trolled. We reached the top of the creek and sight casted at a few smaller barra until a big birds nest slowed that down! As the tide dropped i had a feeling that we still had a very good chance of picking up a keeper. After an hour my sister picked up a nice 58cm barra on a silver and blue reidy's lucifer just as she was considering changing her lure. 20 min later she had a 60cm in the boat and another 20 min later a 68cm as i was starting to get sick of netting her fish! She also snagged a big sandcrab on troll as well. All i got all day were a few cod including one that i had never seen before which had great big eyes on top of its head. Considering the weather was great for kite surfing i think we did pretty well and hopefully the next trip i can make my sister net some of my fish. Another sucessful day up the Elizabeth!!!
