Finally.............. the SE wind droped below 25Kts and we made course for Stagg Patches on Thursday, SE winds of about 16kt still made for a slow trip out.
First drop off the back of the patches produced a very nice coral trout. followed by another three trout.
Could not tempt any fish, with casting poppers at bommies. Trolled up to Sudbury cay for a swim. Still a little too choppy inside sudbury to anchor up so we shot back over to Fiztroy Island for the night.
Anzac day arrived with calm conditions, a first for what feels like over a month. We shot back out to stagg patches, no joy on keepers. Decided to have troll around.
Nothing was interested in my hardbody lures, so I tried running skirts. First 5 min picked up three strikes at once with small spanish mackerels.
Next run Produced a very good strike and a 5min fight to land a GT.
The best part was I had only just put the new lure on, and in my excitment had overlooked taking the plastic tube off the hook, the fish drove the hook thru it for me.
