Hi and welcome to the Townsville Fishing Charters September fishing report

Well it has been a month of mixed fortunes the month started off great
then a hot snap then raised the water temperature sending the fish a
bit deeper this didn’t effect the reef fishing as much but it play a
bit of havoc on the Pelagic species.
It then got a bit windy for the next week which made the offshore
fishing very hard as evidenced by the lack of trailers at the boat
ramp great time to head to the creeks to chase a Barra and mix it up
with some fishing for the Golden Snapper’s and Jack’s
Hinchinbrook was the place to be for big Barra action with plenty on
the chew around the 60 to 70cm mark they are great table fish.
This is a great place to book an extended fishing charter with me as
we can really mix it up with the Barra and the great reef fishing on
offer at the Islands and the accommodation is right next to the water
Plenty of big GT’s getting around the wharf there as well with schools
of Blue Salmon fairly thick, the Long tail Tuna where also present.
I made the trip to the Haughton River as well it was a bit quit for
the barra but we cleaned up on the Snappers way up river using the
live Herring as bait around some sunken snags.
Got back into the bay in the middle of the month leading up to the
full moon we started to get a little drizzle making it a bit hard to
throw a few lures around so the bait fishing was all the go. The Red
fish seem to be quit prolific at that time and some big schools of
Mackerel and Queenfish where hiding in Horseshoe Bay at the back of
Magnetic Island.
The Queenfish where hiding in the dirty water of the color change and
where busting up everywhere on the incoming tide.
Thanks to Honda I now have a 150HP 4 stroke on the back of the boat.
