Karumba Spring creek early May : NQ Barra

Couple of boats from nt and cns planning to heading up north of Kurumba, duck creek etc for several days camping and fishing, mainly targeting barra. Anyone with any tips including possible road condition to Kurumba and lures that work in that neck of the woods, also any close off shore action for fingermark etc

Well done Springs, great to have a report from the area, keep 'em coming. Keen to get more of the Gulf fishers such as yourself on this site, most of the Top End mob here probably wouldn't know where Spring Creek is ...

Our timing was good for Kurumba but we couldn't access the top road to fish our way back to Roper, stopped at KAB for one barra.

I flew to CNS from DRW and the boys picked me up with 3 4m tinnies. We launched out of Kurumba and ran the 50nm north to a good beach camp at the mouth. You should see the local pros hug the shore on high tide with big fast plates etc
Worked out that Poltis (all lost eventually) and crazy 8's in the timber worked a treat. One pro in the system on the third day, nice young fellow with Missus.
Caught around 10 barra a day, all released except 2 on the fire with crabs. Biggest 85. Good trip with good logistics fuel ice beer in small boats. Got bashed by sea on way home.
