Thankyou Craigy for sending in the pic. Must have something to do with the floods or coral bleaching, suggesting that the barra are coral feeders. Enough wine good night.

If I am correct, I believe this is one of the Barramundi that escaped from a commercial fishing venture thanks to Cyclone Yasi. I am yet to catch one but have caught plenty of the "green eyes".
The fish were grown and fed in net containment's within Conn Creek from the Hinchinbrook area. Yasi destroyed the operation and heaps and heaps of Barra escaped. The farm fed Barra have green eyes as opposed to the normal pink. They still taste great though. It is a great debate over here as to how long it will take for the eyes to change - if they ever will. The fish are already starting to silver up.
I have heard rumors of the albino's but as I said have not personally laid eyes on one. Looking at the picture again it is definitely Hinchinbrook Island in the background. I caught two Barra last weekend that had disfiguring of the upper jaw, looked like injuries suffered from within the nets. They probably only survived thanks to being farm fed. One I caught was 65cm but had no conditioning - a bit like catching an old man brown trout - big head but no body!

This was in the latest BBB magazine, just got it today in the mail. (Thanks NT News lol) It was a pommy fella, fish went 85cm and he released it unharmed. If you look at pet barra on youtube you see some pretty crazy colours but I have no idea how they got that way, pretty interesting stuff.
