Hey mate biggest coral trout I have caught went 8.5kg biggest red emperor I have caught went a touch over 6kg my old man pulled a snodger trout on a live hussar anchored to the bottom he went 10kg, which was released. I have mates who have fished the waters of double island point and pulled red emperor in topping 16-17kg with even bigger ones busting them up and getting bitten in half by tiger sharks. Not sure how the territory fairs as I flew in yesterday but im dyin to find out.

Have caught stacks on the east coast around the Goldsmith Is, Whitsundays and on the reef but have still to catch them here in the NT - some call them the Mystery Fish. Seriously though fish in the NT don't get to the sizes that you get on the East Coast.

Here's a photo of my best trout so far, over 50cm. Its not big by NQ standards but its a pretty good size for a Bar Cheek in the North West where I caught it fishing on the gas pipeline that runs out to the rigs.
Cheers

Hey champ,
Fished most of the top end coast and although haven't weighed alot of em haven't caught a bar cheek over 5kg. Seen plenty from Bass, Lorna, and Blaze go 4.5kg.
As for reds biggest i've caught up here is 6kg wide of the Perons. I worked on Hyland C for a while and Mal showed me pics of a 23kg one that got somewhere between Lizard Isle and Cape York.

Haha. I make Bill angry enough by bringing all my own gear, he reckons it weighs the boat down...
Also he can't understand why I wont use his Penn rod/reel combos with wire trace and half a housebrick to get it down there. I reckon he sits behind me just waiting for a bustoff so he can get stuck into me about the merits of wire trace to the hooks.
