What was the weirdest bait you have ever caught a fish with?

I used cooked sausage pieces up Magela Creek and caught only Powertail, so I don't use sausages any more

I don't know how weird these are but; corn for mullet & strips of chicken breast coated with parmisan cheese for bream.

Hubba bubba chewing gum... good for toad fish at Bribie ISland jetty... :shock:

Got to use some uncooked mince on the rig once (in a fish trap) and got about 12 huge sadle tail snapper :fishy:

My mate caught 8 brown trout at Lake Tali Karn in Victoria with maggots he picked off a dead horse he found on the trail while hiking into the lake.

Just read this looking back at some old posts and wanted to add this little beauty. :idea:

Back in the 70's when fishing the McArthur River for perch and turtles with a mate we were using as bait and we caught a 15 lb Barra. :catch:

Another more recent one was watching some fisho's at the Shady Camp barrage pulling in mullet using the from the barrage as bait. :idea:

we used to use liver as the number 1 bait for freshwater eels fishing as kids.

have used chicken in parmesan for bream too...they love it!

it aint weird baot, but the two most effective and smelly baits were mullet or blackfish gut for bream, or cunjevoi for drummer.

A lot of the old Codgers use Mozerella cheese nowadays for Cod. They melt it and mould it around the hook. My dads uncle used to drill a hole through golf balls and put it above the bait when he set springers. Even seen some use hard boiled eggs.

Caught flathead on tomatoe,and zuchini...but they'll eat anything,literally.

Dad saw a guy using lettuce for Blackfish at SW Rocks this year :rofl:

. I think he must of thought that lettuce weed and lettuce was the same thing :bonk:

for murray cod- cheese, boiled eggs, cooked yabby tails. i saw one guy using a washing scourer cut into pieces that he had melted cheese through. couldn't be good for the fish that got away though.. :evil:

i found the wad from a shotgun cartridge in a cods guts once too.
