A lot of the old Codgers use Mozerella cheese nowadays for Cod. They melt it and mould it around the hook. My dads uncle used to drill a hole through golf balls and put it above the bait when he set springers. Even seen some use hard boiled eggs.
Caught flathead on tomatoe,and zuchini...but they'll eat anything,literally.
Dad saw a guy using lettuce for Blackfish at SW Rocks this year . I think he must of thought that lettuce weed and lettuce was the same thing

for murray cod- cheese, boiled eggs, cooked yabby tails. i saw one guy using a washing scourer cut into pieces that he had melted cheese through. couldn't be good for the fish that got away though..
i found the wad from a shotgun cartridge in a cods guts once too.

I've hooked Back-cast on some strange statements at times but never seem to land the Bugga.
