Took a mate out fishing last Saturday up an arm in Darwin Harbor. Tides nearly the best, coming off neaps, seas flat and not too much rain to flush the creeks, ideal for harbor arms. Thats were it all came unstuck, someone forgot to tell the fish. Managed a few queen fish of good size. Mate said they are no good to eat. I proved him wrong. Made up several batches of Thai fish cakes, the ones with "red thai curry". He wants to go back and catch more queen fish now.

Scamper, good on you mate. They are a great fish. I like to release most of mine however, they damage easily, so I get to keep a few. Top quality Numous, Sashimi and great when steamed, crumbed or BBQ. Just have to bleed them, skin them & cut out the dark dog meat. Brilliant fighters as well.

Ahhh queenies. The first fish i ever caught in Darwin. Was ecstatic to catch a fish after a day chasing barra in the harbour arms getting nothing but hammered by sandflies. I was thinking whats all the fuss about fishing up here. After 5 years of living in Darwin trying to get that elusive metery I get it now. Am yet to try numus though... Someday i will give it a go...

I took some mates to Woods Inlet for the day and didn't get a fish. There was plenty of bait moving in the form of prawns and mullet but nothing chasing it. Only got 1 keeper muddie for the day out of 9 pots so I will be sticking with Shoal Bay from now on
