I found a wreck in the harbour about 25 yrs ago and has been great for snapper and massive jewy,s but over the last couple of years the fish have been getting less and less on iit , do you think it,s time i spilled the location to the relevent govt departments or keep it to myself?. i have mates that are divers and i have taken them to it and they tell me it,s by far the best dive in the harbour, has not been salvaged and they coulnt find a name on it..what are your thoughts ?????

i guess depends on how you feel mate... if you want to keep this sure fire spot if its like that to your self i wouldnt tell anyone, it could be a place you could take your kids and be almost assured you would land a biggie every time. however if you have had enough and you dont fish it much you should most definetly share it, give other amatures like my self the opportunity to hit it and catch some fish for those guys like me that just hit the known harbour wrecks and get nothing...
it comes down to how you feel i guess, in honesty if i found a spot like that in darwin and was getting qaulity fish off it every time i would keep it hush hush and just take what i need, these places are hard to come accross in my opinion....
If it was pretty far off shore id share it tho, if others want to go all that way thats fine but anything a stones throw away id keep close.

Keep it to yourself I say. You and your mates, and anyone else who know of its existance have kept it pretty pristine so far but you said the magic words, its not been raped, sorry, I mean salvaged so its probably best off that way.
You tell the authorities and pretty soon it will be on a map and have an exclusiuon zone, and divers all over it some of whome will taked some stuff
And if its in the harbour I am pretty sure others know and are thinking exactly what you think...

Don't tell a sole... And when fisheries ask you tell them your post was a joke... Because if I recall correctly legally you have to report it...(so fisheries told me long time ago)
Oh maybe tell me... I never go fishing anyway

If you see someone tailing you in a top ender, big fake mustache, dark glasses and a big hat just "looking at the scenery while whistling"... its not me
If its not a danger to navigation (which I'm sure it isnt after 25 years) then keep it quiet

Screw that keep it to yourself mate. How did you find it inthe first place?? Anchor and rope??? At the end of the day everyone should have there spot and people work pretty hard to get onto fish away from the crowds without having loose lips tell the world it's firing. It's good to hear there are still spots like this so close.

Got me thinking.... Im just looking at it from another angle.
Fair chance the boat went down when most of them did in 1942 from a Japanese bombing raid. If that is the case then there's also a fair chance people were killed in it. Now Im not up to speed on whether all casualties like these were accounted for or not. But lets say they werent (as Im only speculating) If so then there are almost certainly relatives of these people that never found out what exactly happened to their loved ones and where they ended up. You could help shed some light for some people on their grandfathers fate, and help out with the history books.
Obviously you will either lose, or end up sharing your fishing spot with others.

The less people you tell the less pressure it gets but if you want it ptotected tell the fisheries. If it becomes protected the fish on it will still repopulate the harbor wrecks so I see it as a win/win. Your call.

Dont tell anyone as even if it is made a heritage site it will be released to the public and someone will sneak out at night and pillage it. Divers souveneers and fishing.

As mentioned above. Keep it to yourself. I'm sure it won't be long before someone else stumbles onto it anyway with all the boat traffic that is around nowadays. Enjoy it while you can.

Keep it to yourself. as mentioned, every other wreck ever discovered eventually gets cleaned out. No matter what restrictions are put on it, people just dont give a rats I think you should just post the co ords here and then the Privileged good people here can use it
