It depends on the type of fish to be released....no good for our jewies as the barratrauma is too great...(it ripps the vital organs away from the heart ect)... bot on other fish like cod ect it might be better

Most fish except the red emperer suffer from internal injuries when released even when the gas is let out of them or they are dropped back to the bottom. Any thing over 15 meters of depth is a waise of time releasing fish according to the research from Queensland and the NT fisheries. 10 meters for Jew. Red emperor can survive any thing up to 40 meters so they seem to say.
