saw a few jumping at the mouth of the east a few years back... one of them (a very unlucky one) landed in the boat, and he was legal, and yes he went straight in the esky... but my guess is that they are being chased by something or just scared of the boat.

Its nearly always shark related when they jump but have had 3 free jump into the boat over the years, 2 in Yellow waters at night in the shallows and the third at around 40 kph in Hudson Creek. Hit me in the middle, luckily I was sitting down, had the bruise for a week or so but got my revenge as it was the only legal Barra we caught all day!

Its more common than I thought.
The 2 I've seen came out perfectly did an parabolic arc and went back in headfirst with a nice clean entry. degree of difficulty too low to run up a major score
Large mullet jump very lazily usually flopping back in on their side. They always do 3 jumps about 5 seconds apart. If u had a shotgun u'd get one on the 3rd jump because they're so predictable.
No predators in lagoon for these sized fish.
Any observations about the "shivering"?

I had a mackerel free jump and smash tail slap me in the side of the head. Instant concussion and I was forced to lay down for the rest of the trip. It was just past 6 mile buoy. Lucky did not cop the teeth. He hit the side rail on the way out and went belly up. We ate him for all his trouble as well. Seems fair after he took a cheap shot at me.
Funny now but was not at the time so I know how you feel takinapunt.
