Howdy all
I'm back and super pumped after my session at Shady Camp this morning. arrived at 830am right on the high tide and was surprised here was no-one else there. a few cars and trailers in the carpark, but no-one on the barrage.
So I was a little hesitant to venture there by myself. However after a cautious look around, I rigged up one of the big plastics that I got from the tackle shop yesterday and fired it into the wash right after the barrage
2nd cast in and bang I got a strike resulting in a 50(odd) cm barra. My first ever barra.
Over the next 2 hours I kept hitting barra after barra. Biggest I got measured 67cms. Also got busted up by a number as well.
Also donated a lot of my plastics to the rocks as well.
By the time I left I had seen 2 boat launches and that was about it. I'm sure it gets busy on a weekend.
Driving back to Darwin I had a grin on my face from ear to ear and already thinking of my next trip to this spot. Shady Camp certainly holds no1 spot in my fishing spots around Australia from now onwards and I just think how lucky you Territorians are.
Anyway back to Canberra tonight to return to freshwater fishing and dreaming of another barra day in the near future.
Have got photos and will post them up later on once I get them off my camera

Glad you got a few Barra.. I'm an ex-Canberran, nothing wrong with the freshwater fishing down there! Be sure to come visit again some time.. The Barra will be waiting for you

\n\n\nHorses for courses Mike. I have in the shed at last count,\n2 eggbeaters\n2 Curados\nplus a few Alveys, 6 x 9inch models,5 x 6.5inch models two of which are wide and deep,5 x 6inch models, 3 x 5.5 narrow models. Used to have 4 of the 5.5s but the handles got caught in the cast net at front of of a king creek tidal wave.Last seen untangling itself at the limit of the cast net throw, never found it... bugger.
