Hit the water about 7 pm, first barra in the boat 7:10 on the trawl. Trawled the whole time on the water, ended up with 3 legal barra to 65cm, 20 tarpon and a huge cat fish ( for corroborree). All hooked in the side of the body and head. None took the lures in the mouth, so must have been head butting the lures.
Only using small lures, like spear heads and skinny ones I don't know the name of. Most hookups and fish were caught with shallow diving lures to 2 meters. Deaper diving lures less results. And when the moon was rising.
My therory was we were either trawling too fast, my boat idles at 3.8 to 4 km/ hr. And the fish were not REALLY hungry. Many other hookups but lost early on in the fight.
Any ideas to improve my fishing welcome. Water temp was 31C.

Sounds like a bit of activity on the water for you Scamper, good info about your catch etc.

Hey Scamper, i went out to corroboree that same night. I hit the water around 730pm, then went down to my little spot waited for the moon to come up which it did around 930ish, chucked the minn kota in and trolled up and down a little 200m stretch just about every pass a legal barra was landed, first three we kept were 60, 63 & 64. We were using soft plastic, just little squidgies, drop bears and blue/purple ones and just moving fast enough when when we could feel the lures swimming. I've found fishing corroboree at night that the barra aren't too keen on hard bodies, when we made the switch to soft plastics they were smashing them, lost alot lures because the barra had pretty much swallowed them. Next time you head out for night, try and get there when the moons up and give soft plastics a crack.

Good info on both posts fellas. You don't hear too much about trolling SPs at night. Great idea. Seems like you can hardly hear about billabong fishing that doesn't have the use of a lecky motor. Must get one.
