I've got a 5.0 mtr Seajay Haven Sports, which has developed cracks in the bottom of the transom next to the engine mount bracing. Down low near the weld between the hull and the transom, the crack extends into the hull and transom away from the joining weld. Just wondering if any other Seajay owners have developed similar symptoms? It will be a warranty repair though I'm concerned as the boat is only 15 months old and hasn't been flogged what's it going to be like in 5 years time?

Pedro, that is bad news. Sorry to hear that. Never owned a Sea Jay but they have always had a good name, for a good reason to. I have not heard of any issues with the welds on SeaJays from mates who have had them. Hopefully yours is a one off.

Hey mate
Have a 6 year old 5.4 haven sports with a Honda 115 on the back (heavy bastard too!). Nil sign of any trouble at this stage. And looking at the trailer it has been over some rough stuff too..Have been over it really carefully and all the welds look completely intact.

if you are travling on dirt roads you need to suport the engine back to the trailer ,do not suport the engine by the little tabs when its on full tilt that is asking for trouble even if you suport the engine with a block of wood under the mount this will eventully crack the transom as well there not designed to take a pounding on dirt roads with no suport back to the trailer there is huge leverage with no suport

Pedro,
I have a 3 year old 4.85 Seajay Haven Sports that has seen some rough road travel but so far have had no problems at all with any welds or cracks developing. Perhaps the ally material itself may be substandard? Sometime even the boat manufacturers get stiffed by the ally suppliers (most of the ally prob comes from China due to cheaper material).
As already alluded always use a proper "shock absorber" type of outboard support bracket joined to the trailer.

i think you need to talk to your dealer before posting things on here and bagging a product it could and may get very ugly ,if the owner of seajay reads this he may take legal action against you bagging his product before the reason why this has happened your local dealer reads this too just a trip remove this post ASAP
Are you for real Slapper1, I doubt that any manufacturer will take any legal actions as firstly it will draw even more bad publicity. I dont think that anyone was bagging a product.
I sure if you search back through the posts there would be hundered of these sort of post about different type of hulls cracking.

I owned a stacer 4.7m that cracked all along the keel within 12months of owning it, so i feel ya pain pedro. I now have a sea jay - no problems thus far. is yours cracked along the bottom plate or the actual transom plate?

I read a heap of other forums on the net and people freely post their opinions and experiences. No one tells them not to and no one censors it. Why should this place be any different!!!! I have seen people complain about a certain product on other forums, only to have the company the produces the product come online and help them out with any problems. You dont see that happening here because everything gets censored.
My Stacer had a heap of small cracks under the floor after 300hrs, not to mention the fuel tank that was 30L smaller than advertised. When I posted about this everything got quieted down. Even talking to a Barrister friend he said there was no problem discussing it on a forum as long as I was posting facts. I would of loved to post about some of the other incidents that have happened to me, but they will just get deleted every time.

Can't see an issue with posting what you have Pedro. Didn't even think you slagged it and really as long as it is under warrenty then you have nothing to worry about. I would be getting tue boat Checked properly on all welds and anything that looks funny or Sus bring it to their attention.
Good luck with it and be sure to let us know how you get on.

Slapper, give yourself one around the ear hole and wake up to yourself..... The chap wasn't bagging any product or manafacturer, just stating his experience and asking others for similar experiences. Perfectly acceptable thing to do.
