Well, each to their own.............but If any of my boats were fibre glass I would have been sunk 10 times by now or certainly would have had some badly damaged hulls. The good ol aluminium allows you a lot more fishing choices, freedom and peace of mind. A lot of the water up here is still poorly or uncharted. But improved technology and boat ramps will no doubt see more glass boats around

Gettin off the subject here about cracked transoms but people always think of the f/glass boats of long ago whereas this boat of mine can have a hole banged in it as big as your fist (sealed deck) & you dont even have to bother going home be it a day or week if fishing away

I have often wondered about this. I previously owned a sealed deck boat. Was very surprised when I had to do fuel tank maintenance & discovered no floatation material. I did discuss this with the distributor at the time & was told no dramas as it has 'positive floatation'. I made sure that the access hole was totally sealed, along with each of the rivets. Having said that, the pipe that leads from the hull cavity that contains the fuel line is definitely not airtight. Does this mean that it is 'unsinkable'? I can only imagine that if it was punctured, water would enter & air would escape through any 'vent', that being the fuel line pipework. Any ideas?

Pedro
The Sea Jay range of boats is by a fellow called Col Glass from Bundaberg. He used to work for the family business called Ron Glass Marine in Targo St and was building his boats out of his dad's shed out the back of the shop. I think the name Sea Jay is a play on words from Cols name and his wife Janine hence C & J which became Sea Jay. (I think.)
Col eventually went out by himself to his own factory.
Have known him, his dad Ron and the businesses for a long time (from 1975) and met up with him again at the barra nationals a few times. He goes there every year with a new design to try it out on the water before sales start.
He's one of life's good guys and I don't believe that u'll have any trouble if u're straight with the firm or its agents.
If u're dissatisfied with local reaction, give me a pm.
