Took the son in law out to camp the night at 2 mile...spent friday night at the bark hut then motored in early sat morning pulled up at the launch site...nobody there saw one boat mid morning for a minute but they pulled out early and left us to it The young bloke through no fault of his own had never been fishing seriously in his life let alone caught a fish so I lubed up my vocal cords and gave him a few pointers I got a few rats and just legal fish as the day wore on, Josh had a few taps and follows but nothing solid but he was having a ball checking out the scenery and getting excited by the follows in the clear water, we ran out of steam in the hottest part of the day so headed back to camp for a few hours and had a feed got back into it as the sun got low first 2 casts got I belted by a cracker of a toga but he chucked the hooks made the call to start trolling after dark, I was getting worried about putting him onto a fish by this stage two runs over some likely looking snags and he started yelling after getting slammed by a decent barra we could hear it leaping round shaking the lure and slapping back in, a few tips on fighting a fish and he got the knack couple more good leaps and he steered his first ever fish into the net nice fat 75cm billabong barra few more minutes over the same snag and I got a 74 (had to let him get the biggest) we dropped a few more and I landed a 70 before calling it a night Up early for a session on fizzers we'd only been fishing for about 10 minutes when Josh got slammed next to the boat by a nice little bazz second fish ever for him couple more rats and we switched to hard bodies and he scored again flicking at a snag with a classic 120 back home and all cleaned up in time to watch the broncs roll manly, great weekend for a newbie
