Just thought I would give a report as a new topic rather than just follow up on the old one as it is now dated I was one of the first in after the road opened. THe fact that it was opened without fixing the wash-out (which was the excuse for keeping it closed) is proof they succumbed to the pressure in the media ( The Fixer and Matts Sunday Fishing article) phone calls and maybe this website. The road of course was not a problem for any 4X4 and you cetainly didn't need a snorkel. The wash-ot was clearly marked by that orange netting stuff and could have been done a couple of weeks ago which would have saved all the agitation. You had to work for your fish but myself and my mate got 13 keepers up to 75cm Be warned, when driving out I got pulled over and checked by the Kakadu Fisheries Inforcement blokes, the first time I have ever been checked let alone by anyone associated with the National Park. They were towing a boat so were obviously going to be out on the water as well. Thank all the gods I left the skins on my fillets ( the first time ever when fishing billabongs)
One amusing incident was that an old couple from NSW were p - - ed off with me because I dared to camp in THEIR spot !!
